_ The 2020 Liberty Road Challenge:

The Liberty Road Challenge is a unique, virtual opportunity to honor D-Day and the route our allied forces' marched to achieve the Liberation of France. Participants have a choice to complete the virtual course individually or with a team. Registration for both INDIVIDUAL and TEAM VIRTUAL CHALLENGES are open until Independence Day - July 4, 2020.

INDIVIDUAL VIRTUAL 100 MILE CHALLENGE - Participants have until September 10th to complete the virtual Liberty Road Challenge from Saint-Mere-Eglise in the Normandy region of France to St. Malo in the Brittany region of France (100 miles/161 km). You can walk, jog, run, bike or use a treadmill to complete the course!

INDIVIDUAL VIRTUAL 712 MILE CHALLENGE - The 712 mile Challenge from Saint-Mere-Eglise in the Normandy region of France to Bastogne, Belgium which was liberated on September 10, 1944  and held strong during the Battle of Bulge (712 miles/1147 km). You can walk, jog, run, bike or use a treadmill to complete the course!

TEAM VIRTUAL 712 MILE CHALLENGE - Teams have until September 10th to complete the virtual Liberty Road Challenge from Sainte-Mère-Église in the Normandy region of France to Bastogne, Belgium, liberated on September 10, 1944 and held strong during the Battle of the Bulge (712 miles/1147 km). Participants can walk, jog, run, bike or use a treadmill to complete the course!

What is the Liberty Road Challenge? Runners, walkers, and bikers will have from the 76th anniversary of D-Day on June 6, 2020 to Independence Day on July 4, 2020 to register and July 4th to September 10, 2020 to complete the Challenge. The virtual course follows in the footsteps of Allied troops who liberated France and Belgium in 1944 along the Liberty Road (French La Voie de la Liberté) a 1,147 kilometer march beginning on Utah Beach in Normandy on June 6, across Northern France to Metz, and then northwards to Bastogne, Belgium which was liberated on September 10th, 1944.

What do I receive with my registration? All individual and team participants receive a commemorative Liberty Road Challenge t-shirt, WWII finishers dog tag, virtual bib, and a 25% discount admission ticket into The National WWII Museum in New Orleans with their registration.

  • Participants that complete the challenge by September 10, 2020 will be entered into a drawing to win a two night stay at the Higgins Hotel in New Orleans along with free admission into the museum!

*ADDITIONAL SHIPPING AND HANDLING COSTS WILL BE INCURRED BY PACKETS SHIPPED OUTSIDE THE US.

How do I log my miles? LIVE MAP TRACKING WILL BEGIN ON JULY 4, 2020 when the RunSignUp software is ready to track your progress. Individuals and teams will be able to track progress by logging their daily mileage and activity (walk/run/bike). Registrants will receive an email by 7/4/20 with instructions on how to log virtual milage via Live Map Tracking. 

Who does this event benefit? This event will benefit The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. 100% of donations and part of registration proceeds will go to support the Museum and its mission. The National WWII Museum is an independent nonprofit and therefore largely relies on admissions sales, memberships, and other donations to support its operations. Your support allows future generations to better appreciate the real stories of our heroes, their struggle and sacrifice. Help us  honor the legacy of the WWII generation
