The Trans Am Triathlon originated from crazy discussions during the 2013 Triple DECA Iron race in Lake Garda, Italy. As we covered thousands and thousands of loops swimming, cycling and running the idea of a point to point triathlon across the US seemed pretty cool.
TransAmTri will be a unique Semi-Supported triathlon consisting of support and self-supported sections. With the increasing trend toward the self-supported bikepack and running global racing scene, the concept follows some of the same rules.
Where: The race will begin in Orlando Florida (then to the coast in St. Augustine Florida to dip the bike tires in the Atlantic Ocean) and will finish at the Pacific Ocean in Southern California (dip the running shoe in the ocean)

Swim Lake Cane – Orlando, FL – 50KM in the open water. The lake is 1KM per loop (out and back) and 50 laps will be required. Crew assistance is allowed and details will be included under the race rules on the website.
Bike – approximately 2,600 miles SELF SUPPORTED miles along the Adventure Cycling Association’s Southern tier route. Begins in St. Augustine, Florida and travels through several states: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
Run approximately 310 miles – Death Valley National Park to the Pacific Ocean at Point Mugu State Park, California Keep in mind the run will be in June and the heat will be extreme. Crews will be allowed for the run section for resupplying and fuelling.
