_ The 6th Annual Brigantine Open Water Swim:

Greenheads Swimming along with the Brigantine Beach Patrol and the City of Brigantine bring you the 6th Annual Brigantine Open Water Swim for ages 7 and over. The race committee reserves the right to break any event into waves based on the number of swimmers registered for the event. This will be detailed here as the event gets closer and discussed during the mandatory pre-race meeting. 

5K: The 5K is a box swim in the Brigantine Bay for ages 11 & over.
2K: The 2K is a box swim in the Brigantine Bay for ages 11 & over.
800M: The 800M swim is an out and back with one turn for ages 7 to 18.

Entries open May 1, 2019 and will remain open through race day. Online registration is preferred; however a paper registration form can be used at race-day registration. Online registration will close on August 9, 2019 11:59 PM. All athletes 17 or under must be accompanied by an adult through the same day registration process. Prices increase on June 16, 2019.

Fundraising is not required; however it is greatly appreciated. A paper Fundraising Form is available and the participant can provide the donor with a Donation Receipt.

Caps will be provided at check-in/registration and must be worn by all participants. Athletes will not be permitted on the dock or to get in the water unless this cap is on.

All swimmers will be marked as follows by the Race Personnel with their Competition Number: Vertically down each arm, horizontally across each shoulder, and horizontally across each hand. Any swimmer wearing a wetsuit will be marked: Horizontally across each hand and vertically down the top of each foot.

Warmups are in the bay prior to the start of the race, provided they do not interfere with the setup of the event. Once an event has been started, no warmups will be allowed.

Awards will be handed out at the conclusion of the three races on Sunday, August 11, 2019. Please see the schedule for complete details. Athletes are permitted to wear wetsuits however they will not be eligible for awards. Awards are based on the following age groups for each event:

• 800M: 10 & Under, 11-12, 13-14, and 15 - 18
• 2K: 11-12, 13-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+
• 5K: 11-12, 13-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+

In addition, an overall finisher trophy will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female.

Drinks will be available at the conclusion of the event.
