_ The 2019 TX Fallen PD Tribute Event:
An officer is killed in the line of duty every 65 hours. Throughout history, there have been more line of duty deaths in the State of Texas than any other state or territory. The Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Fallen Officer Fund provides monetary assistance to Texas families of fallen heroes within 24 hours following an oficer’s line of duty death.
The TXFallenPD Tribute Event is a community event that takes place at The Shops of Highland Village. Activities include a 5K run/walk, a citizen bike race/ride, a Police Officer bike race, and a Police Officer Obstacle Course Competition in the afternoon. There is live music, demonstrations, raffle prizes, a silent auction, kid zone, food, and drinks throughout the day.
The TXFallenPD 5k is a run/walk event starting and ending at the Shops of Highland Village. The course is USATF certified and is a mostly level paved course consisting of neighborhood streets/sidewalks and the Inland Trail System. The 5K will be held in the morning.
The TXFallenPD CItizen Bike Race/Ride starts and finishes at The Shops of Highland Village. It is an approximately 8.5 mile course that utilizes the City of Highland Village Inland Trail System. A portion of the course is on neighborhood streets.
The TXFallenPD Police Officer Bike Race starts and finishes at The Shops of Highland Village. It is an approximately 8.5 mile course that utilizes the City of Highland Village Inland Trail System. A portion of the course is on neighborhood streets. This event is only open to Certified Police Bike Patrol Officers who will be competing for the fastest time through the course and will be held in the afternoon. Only Mountain bikes that are authorized for on duty patrol can be ridden in this event. Riders will be in full uniform. Ballistic vest is optional. Team times as well as individual times will be kept.
The TXFallenPD Police Officer Obstacle Course is a is an IPMBA inspired Obstacle Course that will test all the skills a Bike Officer must master before being allowed to go out on patrol. This event is only open to Certified Police Bike Patrol Officers who will be competing for the fastest time through the Course and will be part of the afternoon activities.
