_ The 22nd Annual Southern Hills Triathlon:

The Southern Hills Triathlon is sponsored by The Friends of the Hot Springs Library and takes place at Angostura Recreation Area in the Black Hills south of Hot Springs, SD. The park is a wonderful natural area and one of the best race venues in the state with a pristine sand beach (no rocks, no weeds); a rolling bike course through neighboring ranchland; and a wonderfully scenic run path along the lake shore.  The event includes a pre-race pasta dinner Friday night at the Masonic Lodge in Hot Springs, SD, snacks and goodies the day of the race, and a race t-shirt. We hope you enjoy yourself and return for future races. While you race, remember that the funds associated with this activity are helping the local library grow stronger and more active. 

PLEASE NOTE: Angostura Recreation Area collects a$6.00 per vehicle entrance fee for all vehicles entering the park for the race. The South Dakota Annual Park Pass also covers the fee. 

Event details and schedule

We welcome race participants to a pasta dinner Friday, August 30th where you can pick-up your race packet and meet the volunteers and organizers. On Saturday, August 31st, packet pick-up will begin at 6:00 am at Breakers Beach, Angostura Recreation Area, south of Hot Springs, SD.  The rules meeting will begin at 7:00 am for adult participants. All adult participants must attend. The pre-race meeting for youth is at 9:45 am with the race beginning at 10:00 am. All youth participants must attend.

5:30 - 7 PM — Packet pick-up, registration, and pasta dinner at Hot Springs Masonic Lodge. Pasta dinner is included in registration fee.

Saturday, August 31st 2019

6:00 am Packet Pick-up Begins at Breakers Beach

Breakers Beach, Angostura Recreation Area

7:00 am Rules Meeting - All adult participants must be present

7:30 am Olympic Distance Triathlon starts

8:00 am Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon starts

9:45 am Pre-race Meeting for Youth - All youth participants must attend.

10:00 am Youth Triathlon starts

PLEASE NOTE: Angostura Recreation Area collects an entrance fee for all vehicles entering the park for the race. The fee is $6.00 per vehicle. The South Dakota Annual Park Pass also covers the fee. Having the correct change will speed things up at the park entrance gate.

With the proceeds from this activity the Friends are able to purchase books and computers as well as support many of the Hot Springs' Public Library's activities.
