Course Details: This year all distances except the 1/2 mile swim will be setup as an out and back course, avoiding multiple laps this year. The 1/2 mile distance will be setup as a triangle. The 1.2 mile swim distance will take you .6 miles out from Lake Gardner Beach to a turn around buoy right before Battis Farm. Endurance swimmers completing the 2.4 mile swim will complete this out and back course, twice.
In fitting with the original idea and concept of the creation of the LandShark in 2014, we’ve added a running element back into the event. Athletes will begin with a .6 swim out to Battis Farm to the swim exit. There you will immediately begin a 1.2mile (approximate) trail run back to the finish at Lake Gardner. Shoes are not-required, but highly recommended as it is a trail run. There will be no pre-transition setup allowed prior to the event. Meaning, you will wear your shoes during the swim if you plan to wear them during the run. There will be a fuel station setup for you at the exit if you need a sip of water or Gatorade.
The 2 mile paddle, will be a 1 mile out and back paddle to Camp Kent. It is a point to point, short course, so be sure your turn handling skills are up to par if you plan on testing your speed.
The 7.8 mile paddle to Woodsom Landing is an all encompassing paddle. We invite SUP’s, prone, canoes, single and double kayakers to participate. If you are training for The Black Burn Challenge this would be the perfect preparation event.
