_ The 2019 TSR Spring Classic:
Does an early Spring bike ride through beautiful Talbot County on Maryland's captivating Eastern Shore sound like a great way to kick off your recreational cycling calendar?
Then the 2019 TSR Spring Classic is the ride for you. Wonderful rural roads, scenic water views and charming little towns feature in this mostly flat terrain ride starting from the town of Easton and winding its way through Maryland's most bicycle friendly county. Our rest stops and start/end station feature a variety of snacks to keep you going and our fully supported SAG wagons will help keep you comfortable and provide assistance on the road. All the proceeds from this ride, minus our costs, go exclusively to help provide developmentally disabled adults and children therapeutic horseback programs at Talbot Special Riders (TSR), a United Fund of Talbot County sponsored non-profit organization and in our 37th year of operation.
Our volunteers are famous for their friendliness and commitment to an enjoyable experience for all. So come along and ride for the riders!
Event details and schedule
Registration opens at 8 AM. After registering, you are free to ride. Only registered riders may use the rest stops and will be served lunch at the conclusion of the ride. All riders, whether pre-registered or day-of, must register at our registration desk. Parking is available at registration site. Rain or shine - no rain date.
Riders must have signed all waivers and must wear a helmet to take part in this ride.
Riders must follow all applicable rules of the road as applies to any vehicle in Maryland, this includes stopping at stop signs and red traffic lights as well as signaling the rider's intent to stop or turn.
The routes are mostly on calm rural roads on flat terrain with some small hills. Weather and winds are variable at this time of year - it is advised you bring a light rainjacket just in case.
Riders on the Metric Century 62 Mile Route are urged to start between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
Riders on the Half-Century 50 Mile Route are urged to start no later than 9 AM.
All other riders are urged to start by 9:30 AM.
Courses will be marked with colored signs including arrows for guidance.
A light lunch will be served at the conclusion of the ride, however riders who start late might find food options limited - by starting later than the suggested times above, you accept that there may be little or no food left at the end point. Riders should also be aware that our rest-stops will begin rolling closures timed to accomodate a departure time of 9:30 AM for the last riders - late starters accept that rest stops may have closed along the route and will bring their own provisions.
Our SAG wagons will begin their last rounds at approxiamatly 3:30 to 4:00 PM. We suggest riders time their rides to end before SAG wagon service terminates.
Price: Until 12AM on February 15th, 2019 - On-line registration will cost $45 per rider. After 12 AM on Sept.1st, the price goes up to $45 per rider. At 12AM on February 15th, 2019, the price goes up to $55 per rider. On-line registration will end one day before the ride. Walk-up/Day-of registration will cost $65 per rider.
This is a recreational ride, not a race!
