_ The 2018 Snowy Range Duathlon:
Standing as the Upper North Platte Valley's sentinel, Kennaday Peak or "Old Baldy", is a stunning example of what the
Medicine Bow Mountains in southern Wyoming have to offer the Valley and its visitors … and it’s the summit for the SNOWY RANGE DUATHLON.
Just a short drive from Laramie, Cheyenne, Casper, Ft. Collins and the rest of the Colorado Front Range, the SNOWY RANGE DUATHLON is a bike (6.3 miles), hike/run (7 miles), bike (8.83 miles) race of 22.13 miles that will test your stamina and steer you through some of the most beautiful country the Rocky Mountains have to offer.
Starting at the headwaters of North Brush Creek at Lincoln Park, you’ll bike paralleling Brush Creek for 6.3 miles to the junction of the Kennaday Peak road from which you’ll transition to your hiking/running shoes for a further 3.5 miles to the stunning summit of “ Ole Baldy” offering you a 360 degree vista of 4 different river drainages, the Sierra Madres and the North Platte Valley.
Then hike/run back down to the transition 3.5 miles, collect your bike for the final 8.83 miles to Lincoln Park Campground where rest, beverage and food await you!
A perfect venue for a race with many lodging opportunities available in the Valley from Saratoga, Riverside/Encampment, Ryan Park to Rawlins, WY.
Sign up early - registrations are limited to 100. Bring your friends and family to cheer you on!
Additional Information & Event Schedule:
Race begins at 8 a.m. at Lincoln Park campground about 3 miles off of Highway 130 on Forest Service Road 100. There will be aid stations, but try to self support as much as possible as the first half of the race is a 10-mile uphill grind.
Parking will be available along Forest Service Rd 100. Be sure to bring clothing for inclement weather as it can change fast.
