_ The 2018 Dirty Project:

Started in 2015 as 'the Dirty Prouty', this 102 mile, ~11,000 feet of total elevation gain, Vermont dirt road ride was offered under the 'Virtual Prouty' banner as an extreme tough-option to the all-paved Prouty road ride options (25, 50, 100 and 200 mile 'Ultimate') for those people who wanted to suffer AND raise money for the the Norris Cotton Cancer Center Prouty fund-raising event.

Event details and schedule

The 2015 'Dirty Prouty' ride had 25+ brave souls; in 2016 we were up to 55, and by 2017, 80. The idea is to keep this a small, passionate, focused and for-the-fun of it "bad-ass" ride, at the same time generate a pile of cash for a worthy cause - currently the Prouty, but moving forward our mandate may change as others in need reach out to us - with the ride being the mechanism for drawing donors in.

The 2018 ridership will be limited to 120; the fund-raising effort will be toward the Prouty; early registration is important not only because of the ridership limit but also early registration and donations means that we can take advantage of the (potential) Byrne Foundation match, which typically takes place during the month of April.

The DP ride is TOUGH! We are not exaggerating when we tell you that this is the toughest, minimally supported, charity 'fun-ride' you will ever find... anywhere. Truth! And this year's route is bigger and badder than ever!

Covering ~102 miles of some of the most beautiful, scenic by-ways in rural Vermont - 80 miles of which are un-paved dirt roads - and with ~11,000 feet of total elevation gain, this truly is a ride like no other. And as such it simply isn't everyone's cup of tea!

The entire route is in Vermont passing thru Hartford, Quechee, Woodstock, Pomfret, Sharon, Strafford, West Fairlee, Thetford and Norwich. There are 6 'soft' SAG stops along the route where you'll be able to refuel.

We have roving support vehicles provided, and a handful of loyal and loving roadies who just want to see you survive the ride - but the emphasis is on self-sufficiency and true grit! Be prepared to be your bad-ass self!
