Triathlon : Swim 2.4 Miles, Bike 112 Miles, Trail Run 22 Miles |
SWIM: 2.4 miles in Lake Willoughby, a glacially carved lake that is known for being chilly, crystal clear, and surrounded by mountains. Said to resemble a Norwegian Fjord, a swim in Lake Willoughby is one of those that you don’t want to miss. The deepest lake entirely contained in the State of Vermont at a max depth of 320 feet. The lake is 5 miles long and 1 mile wide.
BIKE: 112 challenging miles through the Green Mountain State, iconic Vermont towns, wooden covered bridges, green pastures with cows munching away in the distance, it will fool you into thinking this is a nice Summer ride, but with 8,319 feet of elevation gain, you will soon be begging for mercy!
RUN: Start your 26.2 mile, 2 loop trail run with a hike up the 3.3 mile Burke Mountain Toll Road, boasting a 12% average grade, maxing out at a jaw dropping 20% grade and 2,075 climbing feet. Reach the summit and continue on to Kingdom Trails and trail run your way to 13.1 miles and the start of your 2nd loop. Just when you thought the torture was letting up, you will start all over again and hike up the Toll Road and on to the trails for your 2nd loop. Finally, you will cross that finish line at Burke Mountain Resort with your family and friends cheering you on and celebrating your amazing feat!
