_ The 2018 The Rookie Tri:
Come experience all that Austin has to offer! The Rookie Triathlon course begins with a short 300 meter loop swim in Decker Lake. The swim course is lined with trained lifeguards in kayaks to keep the event as safe as it is fun! Participants will make their way through transition to a 11.2 mile bike in a protected lane around the lake before returning for their transition to the run. Participants will then head onto a 2 mile run on smooth off-road paths through the park and back up the road path to the Finish Line Festival. From there participants join others and spectators for celebrating with food, drinks, vendors, and more! Those who are over 21 can visit the beer tent and cheers to their accomplishments.

If doing a triathlon is on your bucket list, then this is the event for you! We wanted everyone to be able to experience the joy and awesome community that is triathlon, so in 2004 we created The Rookie Tri. This super sprint tri is unique because of its separated Rookie and Veterans waves. The course is beginner friendly but also great for those who are looking to speed on a short distance.
Event Distances:
Super Sprint Triathlon - 300 meter Swim, 11 mile Bike, 2 mile Run
Super Sprint Aquabike - 300 meter Swim, 11 mile Bike
Relay Super Sprint Triathlon - 2 or 3 person teams split swim, bike, and run.
Choose Your Division:
Rookie - This will be your first or second triathlon.
Veteran - Have participated in 2 or more triathlons.
Open - Those looking to race for speed. Mass swim start, open to all ages.
Optional Athena/Clydesdale - Athena (Female 165+ lbs) or Clydesdale (Male 220+ lbs)
