_ 2018 MIT Recreation Winter Indoor Tri :
- The 2nd annual Winter Tri will take place at the Alumni Pool and Wang Fitness Center and is great for beginners looking to try a triathlon without having all the gear (i.e. wetsuit, bike) AND triathletes looking for a hard workout or event to train for during the winter months.
Participants will be assigned a heat and start time closer to the start of the event (see later e-mails). There will be a maximum of six athletes per heat. Athletes are given 15 minutes in the pool, 25 minutes on a spin bike, and 20 minutes on a treadmill to cover as much distance as they can in the given time. Between each leg there is a designated 5 minutes transition period. Each participant’s distance will be tracked by volunteers. The total time of each heat is 70 minutes, we recommend athletes plan to arrive at least 20-30 minutes before their heat.
Each participant will be assigned their own lane within the 25 yard pool, using a Spinner Rally bikes which has baskets and SPD clips on each pedal, and running on PRECOR treadmills. While running on the treadmills, participants will have to set their machine at a minimum incline of 1.0 (mimicks running a flat outside).
