_ 2018 Desert Triathlon, Duathlon & Aquabike:
Desert Triathlon is the unofficial kickoff to triathlon season. Heading into its 19th year, Desert Triathlon is the perfect race for both the new or beginner triathlete, and the experienced triathlete looking to shake off their winter rust. We’re situated on the calendar as the perfect warmup to several longer distance races. Choose from the sprint triathlon and duathlon, or the Olympic distance triathlon and aquabike. You can participate as an individual or as part of a relay team.
Course Information:
The swim takes place in Lake Cahuilla, and will have separate courses for the sprint and Olympic distances. The bike takes place on streets in La Quinta and surrounding Riverside County. The bike course is mostly closed to vehicular traffic, with the open portions carefully monitored by police and CHP to ensure participant safety. The run course takes place entirely inside Lake Cahuilla Recreation Area. For up-to-date course maps, CLICK HERE.
