Introducing the first annual IronGear Sports Rio Salado Triathlon at Tempe Town Lake.  We are excited to bring this new event to Tempe in 2011 as the third event in the Red Rock Co Arizona Triathlon Series.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

All events start and finish at Tempe Beach Park.  The swim takes place in Tempe Town Lake which is a man-made resorvoir that's very calm unless there are high winds.  The bike course will be looped, mostly flat and super fast around the City of Tempe.  The run course will loop around Tempe Town Lake, with beautiful view of the lake and the City of Tempe.

REGISTRATION

Online registation by clicking the above link will be available until May 4th, 2011.  You may register onsite at the Expo/Packet Pickup on Friday May 6th, 2011 at Tempe Beach Park.

This is a USAT sanctioned event.

*Non-USAT members will be required to pay an additional $10, for a 1 day license from USAT. More information about USAT is listed here.

RACE DIVISIONS

Age Groups - broken down to 5-year increments, based on your age as of December 31, 2011.

Relay Teams - consist of two or three members.  For 2-person teams, one person must do two of the legs.  For 3-person teams, each person does one leg.  We have had some creative team names, costumes, etc., so bring it!

Buddy Wave Division
If you want to complete the race with another participant who is NOT in your age group (mom, sister, friend etc) the Buddy Wave is for you! The Buddy Wave will be the last wave.
* Buddy Wave athletes are not eligible for awards.

Pro Division
In order to compete in this wave you must provide the following:

• Proof of USAT Elite Membership
• Proof of Professional Status

*Pro Division athletes are not eligible for age-group awards.

Noon - 7:00pm: EXPO officially open!

Noon - 7:00pm: Bike check-in (mandatory) at Tempe Beach Park

6:30am - Race begins with first wave

11:00am (approximately) - Awards Ceremony

DIRECTIONS / PARKING

Parking is available (limited) for athletes in the US Airways parking garage and is FREE! Once the garage is full you will need to park on city streets OR at other parking lots near Rio Salado and Mill Avenue. Additional directions to the venue can be found here.
