Swim course: 750 meters
With sweeping views of Hahn's Peak and the surrounding mountain ranges in the distance the Steamboat Lake Sprint swim will be one of the most scenic starting lines in all of Colorado! The swim will be counter clock-wise and each wave with only have 40-50 athletes/wave to maintain a fun and beginner friendly environment. The water this time of year is expected to be around 70 degrees, so wetsuits will be legal, but will not be recquired. We'll have plenty of lifeguards, safety kayakers, and rescue boats should any issue arise. Upon exciting the swim you'll follow the blue carpet a short distance to the transition area in the parking lot, then it's off on your flat and fast 12.4 mile ride!
Bike course: 12.4 Miles
The bike course will take participants on a flat and fast out and back course along County Road 129! Upon exiting Steamboat Lake State Park the riders will take a right on CO 129 and head 6.2 miles to the turn-around. The first 80% of the route to the turn-around is scenic, flat, and smooth. Then athletes will have a slight downhill before hitting the turn-around and beginning the journey back to the transition area. Heading out riders will be adjacent to Steamboat Lake with breathtaking views in the distance. The roads will be open to traffic, but you're more likely to pass by a bear coming out of Route National Forest than be passed by a car!
Run course: 5k - (3.1 Miles)
After the bike ride you'll slip on your run shoes for quick 5k loop that will take you on a mix of the road and trail system within the park! You'll exit transition the same way you exited on the bike and proceed down County Road 129. Just before the 1.5 mile mark you'll take a right down the dirt road before the visitor center and hop on the Willow Creek Trail.
