2011 Cooperstown Triathlon:

The Cooperstown Sprint Tri begins its first year with a bang.

The course looks great, the village of Cooperstown has local attractions and is certainly a destination with the Hall of Fame, art museums and local breweries.

Course Information:

Swim Course:

The 800m swim will start off the Otesaga Hotels swimming dock. Wave assignments will be determined by race officials in the days leading up to the race. Waves will not exceed 150 athletes per wave. The transition area will be up one flight of stairs to the grassy area adjacent to the Hotel.

Water Temperature: Otsego Lake is difficult to predict this time of year. According to SUNY Oneontas field station, the temperature can range between 50-65 degrees. Only twice in the last 15 years has the water been in the low 50 range. Race officials are prepared to make the triathlon a run-bike-run duathlon if conditions warrant such a change.

By registering for the race, athletes risk that a duathlon may replace a triathlon, and are not entitled to a refund in the event of a change.

Most years, the water temperature is in the low 60-65 degree range. Be sure to check back for up to date temperature information.

Bike Course:

The 11.6 mile bike course can best be described as a scenic route, with a lot of ups, downs, twists, and turns Basically, you cant get bored on the bike.

There are parts where the hills are right in your face, but also parts where you can make up some time.

Run Course:

The run course is under construction at this time. Two different routes are being proposed, but we are waiting to get local input before publishing the final course.
