_ 2017 FLATS Trail Half Marathon:
One of the Midwest's most beautiful and adventurous singletrack trail half marathons! Point-to-point inside Thousand Hills State Park and finishing at West Winery at Jackson Stables.
Top three female and male finishers win $150, $75, and $25 each and, starting this year, a $350 bonus in addition to the $150 first place purse for setting a new course record (but only if you also win). Top three in each age group receive a custom FLATS pint glass, all finishers receive a t-shirt, commemorative race poster, useful swag, and post-event food and beverages.
All proceeds to support the Forest Lake Area Trail System.
Course Information:
This trail race starts at the Marina at Thousand Hills State Park and follow a paved road for about 1.5 miles. This lets racers spread out before turning onto almost 11 miles of well-groomed single track, much of it along the shores of Forest Lake. Racers will navigate twists and turns, ups and downs, rocks, roots, trees, and beautiful fall colors for approximately 11 miles. There are a few stream crossings, and inevitably there will be mud in spots. The last half mile follows a gravel road with the finish at West Winery at Jackson Stables (where free pizza and drinks await all runners).
