The 2016 Gator Bait at Eagle Lake Endurance Challenge is scheduled for Saturday, August 20. The International distance and sprint triathlon will be held at scenic Eagle Lake in Vicksburg, Mississippi will begin at 7 a.m. The one mile and 1/2 mile open water swim will begin after the last triathlon swim wave. The race start/transition area is at Messina Landing. The race will conclude next door at the historic Cotton Exchange under the oaks and overlooking beautiful Eagle Lake. The course is fast and flat.
OLYMPIC/SPRINT DISTANCE TRIATHLON:
SWIM COURSE (1.5K or 800K): Swimmers will be in a wave start as they enter the water to test their skills around a triangular 1.5k swim course in the calm waters of Eagle Lake. As swimmers exit the water and there will be a slight jog up the exit ramp to the timing pad and transition area.
BIKE COURSE (40k): The Bike course will be a flat and fast out and back taking place majority of the time on Hwy 465. Bikers will exit left out of T1 and proceed about 1,000ft down Catfish Alley to HWY 465. There they will take a right on 465 for a very flat and fast out and back bike. Upon returning back via HWY 465, bikers will take a left on to Catfish Alley for about 1,000 ft finally making a right into the transition area
RUN COURSE(10k or 5K): The Run Course will be a flat out and back. With the majority of the time spent on scenic Eagle Lake Shore Road. Runners will exit out of the transition area and go straight, following the roped off path across the landing parking lot proceeding on to Shell Beach Road. Runners will turn right on to Eagle Lake Shore road towards famous Tara wildlife refuge, for a flat out and back run.
