Bring it to the Bay 5K : |
Running : Run 3.1 Miles |
This race provides a convienient location for athletes along the Gulf Coast from Baton Rouge to New Orleans to Mobile who can come race and get home the same day. For generations, Bay Saint Louis has also been a popular get-away for people in New Orleans who have beach camps here. Also, as a smaller race in a small town, our race directors and race team are able to give personal attention to athletes during the registration process and address special needs during the race to ensure everyone is safe and has a good time. The course is flat, and the water is a safe depth, and the weather this time of year is beautiful making it ideal for first-timers and allowing experienced athletes to hit their top speeds. This charming seaside town was voted voted one of America’s Top 3 Coolest Small Towns and one of America’s Top 20 Coolest Beach Town.
Highlights of this course are the fact that is it entirely along the scenic waterfront, few turns, extremely well paved and maintained surfaces, and water depth of no more than 5.5 feet. The Swim Course is 800 yards. In July., the water is usually too warm for wet suits. The swim is a near-shore rectangle. Swimmers keep the turn buoys and any sighting buoys on their right. The first leg is 200 yards out, the second leg is 400 yards parallel to the shore, the third leg is a 200 yard return to shore parallel to the Saint Stanislaus Pier. The bike course is and out-and-back course with only 3 turns and one “Gulf Coast hill” with less than 20 feet elevation change. The run course is an out-and-back 5k that runs from the transition area, down the paved beach board walk for 1.55 miles.
