Triathlon : Swim 1000 Meters, Bike 22 Miles, Run 6.2 Miles |
This event was developed after several athletes recommendations about what a great venue Potato Creek State Park was. Indeed it is, few places are large enough to host an entire event inside the park and that alone makes this a great event. Of course being in Notre Dame country, just a few miles down the road there is plenty to see and do in South Bend.
The park itself is flat as a pancake with the exception of one small hill right out of transition. The water has traditionally been in the low 70’s clean, clear and flat.
The bike is very simple, out to the other end of the park turning around just before the equestrian camground then back. Long course athletes, complete it twice.
The run course is truly one of our personal favorites. A cross country run out and back on the 8 foot groomed trail path along the lake and through the forest. Deer and turkey have been reported on the trail during the event. A nice bonus for you, as air temperatures have recently been in the 50’s is a nice warm shower is available in the locker rooms after your finish.
The entire race will be held inside Potato Creek State Park.
A rectangle swim in a clear relatively shallow lake.
The bike is mostly flat, but does contain two kinda false uphills and a short climb right out of the transition area. 2 loops for long course athletes.
The run takes place mostly on a great 8 foot wide groomed trail on the hiking nature paths around the lake. We have a great finish line set up as you come back off the nature trail between the lake/beach and transition area.
All Kayaks must have an IDNR permit. If you do not have one, they can be purchased for $5 at the park.
