Child of the Sun Urban Triathlon :
Triathlon : Swim ¼ Mile, Bike 12 Miles, Run 3.5 Miles

The Lakeland Rotary Club is proud to add a premier multi-sport event to a classic. The Child of the Sun Jazz Festival, created in 1988, has celebrated jazz music and Frank Lloyd Wrights largest single-site collection at Florida Southern College. Beginning in 2011, participants will be able to enjoy a sprint triathlon in the morning and a jazz festival with free admission in the afternoon.

The Child of the Sun Urban Triathlon offers a swim in a pristine, fresh water lake; an urban bike loop that includes stretches along three picturesque lakes; and an urban run along many of Frank Lloyd Wrights works and some of Lakelands most scenic views.

One of the few urban triathlons in Florida, The COTS Urban Triathlon is for charity. Additionally, it is one of the few triathlons that have additional entertainment, with the jazz festival beginning immediately after the triathlon awards ceremony. All this in the central location of Lakeland, Polk County, Florida.

Course Information:

The swim course will wind through Lake Mirror.
The bike course will take you through the streets of downtown.
The run will traverse the hills and lakes around downtown.

The Promenade area is a great location to see the swim ,transition, and finish. This area also has some great parks for kids to play while your partner is racing. The promenade and parks are surounded by the race route.

Take I-4 W

Merge onto US-98 S/FL-35 S/FL-700 S via EXIT 32 toward LAKELAND.

Turn LEFT onto US-98 S/FL-35 S/FL-548 E/FL-700 S.

Turn RIGHT onto E MAIN ST/CR-542

Turn LEFT onto S LAKE AVE.

121 S LAKE AVE is on the RIGHT

From Tampa:

Take I-4 E

Take the SR-539 exit, EXIT 31, toward KATHLEEN/LAKELAND

Merge onto KATHLEEN RD/FL-539 S toward LAKELAND/LAKELAND CTR.

Turn LEFT onto GEORGE JENKINS BLVD/FL-548 E. Continue to follow FL-548 E.

Turn RIGHT onto E MAIN ST/CR-542.

Turn LEFT onto S LAKE AVE.

121 S LAKE AVE is on the RIGHT.

Must show current USAT membership card or purchase one day USAT membership at check-in.

Check-in Friday, April 15 1pm-6pm & April 16 5:30am-7am at The Peggy Brown Building, 121 South Lake Ave.
