The Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad is a four day sports festival held in Lake Lure, NC the 26th - 29th of August.. Three races are held in three days, do one, two or all three, all are produced by Set Up Events. The 10K DAM RUN is held Friday night, Aug 27th, the Sprint Triathlon at Rumbling Bald Resort, Sat. morning, Aug.28th, the Race to the Rock , a 7K bike or 5K run to Chimney Rock in Chimney Rock State Park on Sunday morning , Aug.29th.
This is a full weekend of athletic competitions including volleyball, tennis, kayaking, golf plus many others all viving for gold medals. For the children there is a Jr. Olympiad with age related competitions, KidSenses Planetarium and the Fun Zone. Other attractions include a water ski show, shag dance, fireworks and even free ice cream sundaes.
