2010 Gold Rush Sprint Triathlon:

This Triathlon features the nationally recognized Mecklenburg Aquatics Center (MAC) 500 meter, 10 lane olympic size pool. The bike and run pass through a lovely part of South Charlotte primarily on wide neighborhood roads that roll gently alongside picturesque golf courses.

Presented by the Mecklenburg County-South Rotary Club, the inaugural race will primarily benefit A Child's Place in Charlotte and Polio Plus.

A Child's Place is an organization in Charlotte which collaborates between our community and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Their goals are to provide stable appropriate education to homeless students, provide support services to enhance their academic success, and provide support to the families to ensure long term stability and self sufficiency.

Polio Plus: In 1985, Rotary International launched PolioPlus, one of the most ambitious humanitarian programs ever undertaken by a private-sector organization. PolioPlus was the catalyst for the World Health Assembly's resolution in 1988 to eradicate polio. Today, thanks to Rotary's US$500 million commitment and its leadership in mobilizing volunteers, the world is on the threshold of eradicating the poliovirus.
