Welcome to the 2010 Atomic Man Half Iron Triathlon! Atomic Man is a qualifier for the USAT Halfmax Championship being held October 2nd in Mrytle Beach, SC. Top 15 each age group qualify. PACKET PICKUP & LATE REGISTRATION- PICTURE ID REQUIRED Saturday, Sept. 4th 4 PM 7:30 PM at race site. Race morning from 6 AM to 7 AM at race site. Registration is open race morning! Relays MUST come together to pick-up packets.
RACE LOCATION- The TVA Melton Hill Recreation Area is located outside Lenoir City, TN just off Hwy 321/95. The race site is about 30 miles West of Knoxville. From I-40 exit #364 towards Oak Ridge approximately 1/2 mile to park entrance on your RIGHT Look for Race Day Events banner! The three large parking lots are 1.3 miles into the park on the left before the dam hill. Camping on site is $14 night/ per site. Hot showers! HOST HOTEL Holiday Inn Express, 1112 Highway 321 North, Lenoir City, TN 37771 (877) 863-4780 Ask for race discount.
SWIM START INFORMATION- The swim is a wave start from just outside the swim area at the dam end. The course will be a two loop rectangle finishing on the beach of the swim area. Keep buoys to your Right. Follow flagging to transition area. Water temp approx. 75. ACME Multi-Sports will be on-site for wetsuit rentals and last minute race needs.
BIKE TRANSITION AND COURSE- Bike course is two 28-mile loops, on Hwy.95 to Hwy. 58 right on Blair Rd, left on Perimeter Rd then back to right on Hwy. 58, right on Bear Creek Roads to right on Hwy. 95 & back to park. Three water bottle exchanges at 15.5, 28 & 45.5 miles. Bikes will climb the hill to the Overlook each lap. RUN Course- The run is a scenic route through the TVA park, right on Woodlawn Road to left on Buttermilk, (Cones will mark course side of road stay near cones to avoid cars). Follow to left on Davis Road to turnaround at Rocky Top Road. Return back same route to first loop turnaround just inside park. Runners will pass 14 aid stations on the two-loop course. Each will be will be ready with Gatorade, oranges, Hammer Gel, pretzels, water and ice. Race number will be marked at the three turn-arounds. Porta-potties passed at park exit and end of first loop.
