The Wild Stampede / Legend Race
Lions, tigers, obstacles, and mud. Awaken your wild side.

The Wild Stampede is a 5k race that will be held on Sept. 21, 2013. This event is designed to be challenging and fun and will not be timed. You wont want to miss running this race with your friends and family before taking a tour of the Conservators Center to see some of the 90 exotic animals that live there, including over 30 lions, tigers, leopards, and wolves. You are guaranteed a unique, close-up view of these powerful, majestic creatures often from just 5 feet away!

Come join us and support the Conservators Center. You will be amazed at the obstacles and the animals on site.

The Conservators Center, located just north of Burlington, North Carolina,
is a nonprofit organization that preserves threatened species through
educational programs and support worldwide, responsible captive breeding,
and rescuing wildlife in need.

Directions:

If you're driving from East of Mebane (cities such as Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill):
From Durham: Follow I-85 South until it joins with I-40 West. 
From Raleigh: Follow I-40 West until it joins I-85 South. 

From the 40/85 junction:

  • Keep going several more exits until you pass Efland and see signs for Mebane.
  • Take Mebane exit 154.
  • At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Mebane Oaks Rd. and continue until you reach the intersection with Fifth Street. You will see a Biscuitville ahead of you.
  • Turn right onto Fifth St./Hwy 119N
  • Continue driving until Fifth St. deadends into a T-intersection at Stagecoach Rd. At this point, you will be in a residential neighborhood.
  • Turn left onto Stagecoach Rd.
  • At the first stoplight, turn right onto North First St. (Which is the same as Hwy 119 North.)From this point you will have about a 20-minute drive through a rural area.
  • Cross over Hwy 49. There is a blinking red light at this intersection. From this point, you are about 7 minutes away.
  • Cross into Caswell County. There will be a green county line sign on your right.
  • Turn left onto Huffines Rd. For people traveling on Highway 119, the road sign for Huffines Road is periodically knocked down or turned sideways. Prospect Church Road is also located directly across from Huffines Road. If you reach Jack Yeatts Rd, you have gone one road too far.
  • Continue driving until Huffines deadends into E. Hughes Mill Rd.
  • Turn left and take an immediate right into our driveway. There is a large, wooden sign to the left of the driveway.
  • Continue down the driveway to the first parking lot on your right. There is a sign on the left directing you into tour parking.

If you're driving from West of Mebane:
From Greensboro/Burlington: Follow 40 East/85 North.

  • Take exit 153 (Mebane/Hwy. 119).
  • At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto Hwy 119N.
  • When you cross the railroad tracks, continue going straight until you deadend into a T-intersection at Stagecoach Rd. At this point, you will be in a residential neighborhood.
  • Turn left onto Stagecoach Rd.
  • At the first stoplight, turn right onto North First St. (Which is the same as Hwy 119N). From this point you will have about a 20-minute drive through a rural area.
