Overview
Welcome and thanks for taking an interest in the Triathlon Clinic for Kids The aim is to provide a safe and fun environment to introduce kids to the basics of a triathlon and improve triathlon specific skills.
Where & When
We will be hosting the clinic at the Boulder Reservoir the day prior to the Boulder Peak Triathlon with the kind and generous support of IRONMAN triathlon corporation the clinic will be fully sanctioned and insured with safety as the first priority.
Saturday 13th July 8.30 12.00
Age groups
Kids of 5 and upwards will be welcome the kids will be split into age specific groups and rotate through modules each group can then be targeted specifically for that age range with the younger kids getting the first introductions and the older kids honing the triathlon skills for bigger races.
The clinic will be limited to 40 kids and hosted by qualified USAT coaches with 1-2 coaches for each module and additional volunteers available.

9.15 9.45 Professional Triathlete talk
9.45 11.45 4 modules 30 minutes each.
Module 1 Swim focused (lifeguards and additional volunteers on hand)
- Focus on entry & exit from open water
- Focus on sighting during open water swim
- Swim games to practice skills
Note- will be very age appropriate catered to age and ability level safety is first here
Module 2 Swim Bike transition
- How to correctly set up transition area
- Practice of transitions
Module 3 Bike Focus
- Education of bike basics Gears, Brakes, Safety
- Bike handling and correct usage
Note- will be very age appropriate catered to age and ability level safety is first here
Module 4 Bike to Run transition
- Correct dismount transition and exit.
- Fun relays & mini races to practice
- Education of running paces understanding what speed to run for the race.
Parent / Guardian / Supporter participation
All are welcome to stay and watch / participate Children of ages 5-10 we would encourage at least one parent per family to stay and help to corral the kids in the right direction!
We will also be hosting a parent focused session with advice and guidance on how to best support and help your kids during a triathlon. What to do, what to bring, how to get the best out of being a spectator and how to help your little one enjoy the day. We know that nothing beats enthusiasm and cheering for our little ones and hope we can guide your energy in the best way.

(Minimum Requirements)
In general, anything they would have for race day
Bike
Helmet
Bike shoes (if applicable in most cases not)
Towel for swim
Towel for transition (optional)
Running Shoes
Swimsuit / swim shorts
T-shirt or vest
Goggles
Swim cap (optional for pool swimming)
Snacks
Water & Drinks
Bike locks
Socks
Warm clothes for after swim and between modules.
