Duathlon : Run 2 miles, 12 mile Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) buoy run, 2 mile run |
The Paddle Run 2013 will be a Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) and run style duathlon being held at the Sparks Marina on July 6, 2013.
Become a part of the growing sport of SUP Athlete in You style! Our event will begin with a 2 mile run around the Sparks Marina, an approximately 1/2 mile SUP buoy run, and end with another 2 mile run around the Sparks Marina.
SUP delivers an amazing core body workout and is ideal for many different types of athletes from strength to endurance competitors. You will also be able to participate as a relay team where one of you can SUP while your team mate takes on the run portion of the course.
Important Information: Style of boards allowed in this event are 11' - 12'6" boards only. All competitors in the water must wear a Coast Guard approved PFD. Any children 13 and under must wear an approved lifevest at all times. No exceptions!!!
All SUP'ers in the water must stand on their board and paddle to advance. If you need to rest, you can kneel or lay down on your board but may not advance in the water. If you do so you risk disqualification!
It is the competitors responsibility to act like a sportsman at all times. If you cause a collision or unneccessary contact during time of race you may face time penalties or disqualification!
Need to rent a board for the event? Lisa Gonzales a WPA and Paddle Fit Pro certified instructor has a limited amount of boards for rent. Her business, Paddleboard Fitness with Lisa G is located at the Sparks Marina. It's your responsibility to take care of this in advance.
