Located on 35 minutes from downtown Boulder and just over an hour from Denver the Eldora Mountain Resort is the home of the XTERRA Indian Peaks off-road triathlon. With the swim at 9,200' this race is not for the short of breath, but at the same time is a challenging but very doable race for the weekend warrior. Over $1,500 in prize money and a great post race party with pizza, beer and live bluegrass. What more could one ask for almost two miles in the sky.
Course Information:
A 1000m swim in chilly Peterson Lake (wetsuit required) followed by an uphill 600m "dash" to the transition area. The 22km mountain bike course is a two loop affair using the trails of the Eldora Nordic Center, wide double track to pass, tight single track descents and some loose rock climbs. The 7km trail run has been called be many as an EPIC course, with tight forest runs, steep climbs, creek crossings and beautiful scenery.
