2012 Turtle Crawl Triathlon:

The 9th Annual Turtle Crawl Triathlon will take place on Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Benefiting the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, the Turtle Crawl features an Olympic and Sprint Distance Triathlons.

The Turtle Crawl is know to be an easy race with generally flat surfaces adjacent to Jekyll Island's beautiful beaches and natural backdrops.

Families of participating athletes are invited to attend.

Kids can enjoy Nest Fest activities provided by the Georgia Sea Turtle Center and the race culminates with the release of a rehabilitated sea turtle from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.

Course Information:

Olympic:

The race takes place on historic Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Jekyll Island is a great place for destination triathlon and is one of the fastest olympic courses in Georgia.

Ocean swim.

Paved surface run and bike - - - Sprint:

Sprint tri is very fast - great first timer event.

Time start on the swim followed by a one loop bike and out and back run that are both very flat. - - -

Directions:

Off of Georgia's I-95

Take exit 29.

Go east or Hwy 17 until you see the entrance to Jekyll Island on your right.

Follow the Jekyll Island causeway.

After passing through the Jekyll Island Greeting Station, signs will lead you to the race.

Jekyll Island is located just off the Georgia coast, midway between Savannah, Georgia, and Jacksonville, Florida.
A six-mile causeway separates Jekyll from the mainland and the city of Brunswick.
One of many barrier islands on Georgia's coast, Jekyll is neighbored to the north by St. Simons Island and to the south by Cumberland Island.,midway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Flordia.
