    I began swimming competitively at a young age and my passion to swimming led me to compete at the collegiate level, which included Indiana River Community College and the University of Kentucky. In order to continue to feed my competitive spirit after college, I began to compete in mountain bike races. Drawing from my BMX days as a child and my swimming fitness I upgraded to Expert within a year. To gain greater cycling fitness I bought a road bike, competed and won my first crit and the rest is history. Today, I race as a Category 1 road and cyclocross racer and occasionally jump in a mountain bike race just to remember the good old days.

    Professionally, I was a collegiate swim coach for over 10 years at Southern Illinois University, Akron University, University of Louisiana at Monroe, Clemson University, and Limestone College. During that time I coached and designed strength programs for several athletes including former Olympians and NCAA All-Americans. I currently work as a the Exercise Coordinator for Health Promotion at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where I am a certified ACSM Personal Trainer and TRX Instructor, and oversee the fitness program for the entire faculty and staff. I also act as the volunteer advisor/coach for the Appalachian State University Cycling Team, which continually ranks as one of the top collegiate teams in the country.

    My philosophy, “provide the working person with a plan that works.” The majority of us are not turning pro any time soon, but still like to compete for our own personal satisfaction and well-being. The right training plan can help you achieve your goals but still leave you with time for LIFE.
