2013 Tri for Joe at Coney Island Triathlon, Duathlon & 5K:

  • I cant think of any reason what so ever to not support and participate in such a great cause and event.
  • This single event encompasses all reasons most of us participate in events all at a single venue.
  • First a great city in Cincinnati, Ohio. Second a super cause in Down Syndrome and Joe to support.
  • As if that is not enough the venue is opening day at Coney Island Amusement park with a free ticket to each participant.
  • Finally you get a first class event experience with a great sprint distance format on an awesome course right at the amusement park. Bottom line, support the cause and register, bring the entire family to participate in one of the many events offered, then take the family for a great FREE quality family time at Coney Island Amusement park for the day!

    • Course Information:



    Swim:
  • The swim will occur in Coney Islands Sunlight Pool, the worlds largest recirculating pool!
  • Athletes have a time trial start (2 athletes at a time) and will traverse the pool to complete the 500 meter swim.
  • The swim course is beginner friendly with approximately half of the swim in the shallow end of the pool with a water depth of approximately 4 feet.
  • This is a very spectator friendly swim as the edge of the pool will be packed with friends and family.
  • The water temp has been wetsuit legal over the years but is open to the public later in the day for recreational swimming so the temperature is manageable.

    Bike:
  • The bike course will be a single 20K loop along the flat roads just outside of the Coney Island Park.
  • Athletes will exit the park and head east on Kellogg avenue to the first turnaround and head back west past Coney to the final turnaround as athletes make their way back to Coney.
  • The roads will be shared with traffic, but athletes will have a dedicated lane that will be coned off to vehicular traffic.
  • Police and volunteers will be present to assist with traffic control along this fast and flat course.
  • Bring your water bottles, no aid will be provided along the bike course.

    Run:
  • The run will be a flat and fast out and back 5K route within the beautiful Coney Island Picnic grove.
  • Aid stations will be provided at the transition exit, at mile 1 (approximately) and at the run turnaround.
