The 2012 Fairland event had an unexpected twist when the bike course was cancelled at the last minute. We chose to "make lemonade" however, and ended up with a fun "Splash & Dash" event for our athletes. The response was overwhelmingly positive, so we've decided to offer a fun race to kick off the season. Whether you're a beginner triathlete looking for a top-notch venue to ease into the multisport world, or you're a veteran who just wants a fun race to shake off the rust, the Fairland Splash & Dash is a great way to start the 2013 season. Join us for the Fairland Aquathlon Splash & Dash at the Fairland Sports and Aquatics Complex and on the trails of the Fairland Regional Park, which straddles both Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. The Capital Beltway provides easy access to the race site from Baltimore, Washington, D.C. or Virginia. After a 400 meter snake swim in the indoor pool, athletes will exit the pool to the Transition Area. Athletes will then run a mostly flat and fast 5K on part of the Regional Park's trail system of well-groomed nature trails and asphalt paths. Easy access and a tremendous venue make Fairland the perfect location for this very beginner-friendly and spectator-friendly event to kick-start the 2013 season.
