_The 2026 Jefferson City Triathlon:
Join us for 9th edition of The Great Escape & Mini Escape Triathlons on June 7th & 8th, 2025!! We are excited to offer a well-organized, family & beginner friendly triathlon in Jefferson City, Missouri!
To complete the Escape, athletes will have a snake swim in the 4 lane, 50 meter pool at Ellis Porter Riverside Park, then on to the bike over city & rural roads to the outskirts of the new Missouri State Prison and back. The run will take athletes to the old historic Missouri State Penitentiary and back to cross the finish line and earn the classic Great Escape medal! With triathlon & duathlon events for ages 13 & up (The *Great* Escape), and a triathlon event for ages 5 - 12 (The *Mini* Escape), there is something for the whole family.
If you're speedy, we've got all kinds of prizes and swag for the overall winners, plus finisher medals & participant shirts for everyone, so mark your calendars for the 2025 Great Escape Triathlon!!
There will also be a Kids & Youth Triathlon on Saturday Night.
Course Information:
The full course takes you from the 50-meter Ellis-Porter Park Pool to an out-and-back run to the old, historic Jefferson City State Penitentiary, the first prison west of the Mississippi River. The bike portion takes you out of town by the newer, operational Algoa Correctional Center. This is river country, so expect a hilly course to provide just enough challenge. The races include the classic 400 meter pool swim, 12 mile bike and 3.2 mile Sprint Triathlon.
Don’t like the water? We also have a Duathlon for bikers and runners or team up to do our 2 or 3-person Team Relay.
For those wanting a mini version of the sprint, we have the Supersprint consisting of a 200-meter pool swim, 5.3-mile bike and 1.8-mile run.
