Important Update
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s race. We truly appreciate the support, enthusiasm, and understanding of our participants, sponsors, and volunteers. While we are disappointed not to gather this year, we are already looking ahead and look forward to welcoming everyone back for the race in 2027. Thank you for being part of our community—we can’t wait to come back stronger.
2026 Lake Minnetonka Triathlon:
The Lake Minnetonka Triathlon is an annual sprint-distance course that begins and ends at The Excelsior Commons. Net proceeds benefit our local charity partners: Neighborhood Youth Program at Interfaith Outreach by providing funds for kids to attend summer camp, and Community for the Commons to enhance and maintain the Excelsior Park.
Our goal in 2026 is to raise $40,000 and we would love your support! The Lake Minnetonka Triathlon Inc. is now officially classified as a non-profit charitable organization under the IRS, meaning donations are tax-deductible.
Please consider partnering with us in our mission to give back to the community, while also providing a unique opportunity for high-visibility brand exposure for your business.
Course Information:
Swim Course
The triathlon begins from the Excelsior Public Beach. This unique 1/2-mile swim goes along the shore of Lake Minnetonka's Excelsior Bay. The swim course is indicated by large orange buoys - the course goes out, hang a right at the first buoy, hang another right, and swim towards shore.
Bike course
This bike route is a 12-mile out and back using much of the same course as 2022
Run Course
The 3.1-mile (5k) course is sponsored by Youngstedts and runs along the shores of Lake Minnetonka on city sidewalks and the light rail trail. The light rail trail is flat and made of hard pack clay. The turn around is at Sleepy Hollow Rd.
