_ The 2023 Gold Star Run for Honor:

Start Time: 8AM Details: We'd like to WELCOME you back to our Annual Gold Star Run for Honor on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. Join us for an early morning run or walk in memory of Scott Procopio who was killed in action 16 years ago in Ramadi, Iraq. Run/Walk distance options include: 5K, 10K, 1 Mile Walk and a Kids Fun Run. In 2019, 2021 and 2022 the event raised more than $25K to be allocated to High School seniors furthering their education.

Packet Pickup/Race Day Reg: Opens at 6:45AM at Saugus Center in front of the Town Hall. Packet pickup is on race day ONLY.  Course: Choose from a 5K, 10K or 1 Mile Walk.
The 5K and 10K courses are a mix of flat and rollers with one good size climb. All distances start at the same time, intersect and split at different points and all fuel stops will have water and electrolytes.
Strollers and dogs are welcome. Kids Fun Run Course: This 1/4 mile Kids Fun Run is targeted for those 10 and under starting at 7:45am. Pre-registered kids will be guaranteed a t-shirt. Their run will circle the shutdown rotary and will finish under the High5EM finish archway on Taylor St. If your child is 10 & under and wishes to participate in the 5K or 10K and do the Kids Fun Run please sign he/she up in the 5K/10K so they receive a race time.  1 Mile Walk: This walk was added in 2022 and was extremely popular!! Walkers will receive all the race accolades without having to run. Team/Club/Business: This is an easy and fun way to recruit your family, friends and colleagues. Teams must consist of at least 4+ people. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest team.  Swag: Participants will receive custom designed race bibs and finisher medals. Shirts will be guaranteed to those pre-registered by 5/13. All Awards Will Be Presented to Both the 5K and 10K

3rd place M/F: $25 Festivities: There will be a variety of community sponsors and vendors setup in front of the Saugus Town Hall. Essex Landing will be on site providing hot dogs for all participants and other food/drink will be available. Evolvement Radio will provide the entertainment all morning along. Stick around for the Saugus Memorial Day Parade to follow.  More about Scott: Scott was on his second deployment as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having previously served in Fallujah in 2005. He was killed in action as a result of a roadside bomb on the morning of April 2, 2006 in Ramadi, Iraq. Beneficiary: 100% of the event proceeds will be allocated to CPL Scott J. Procopio Memorial Scholarship program to provide high school seniors with academic scholarships. Can’t make the event? But would like to make a contribution? Race Refunds & Event Cancellations: We understand life happens and things may come up. We’ve implemented a defer and transfer policy for FREE up to a certain date for all High5EM events. Transfers or deferments made after said date will incur a small fee for administration purposes.
