_ The 2023 RipRoar Youth Triathlon Omaha:
The RipRoar Cedar Rapids Youth Triathlon welcomes athletes ages 6-15-year-old, as of December 31, 2023, of all backgrounds and abilities to complete a course of swimming, biking, and running at age-appropriate distances. The RipRoar Youth Triathlon Series has received numerous awards and nominations for its work empowering and teaching youth life lessons through endurance athletics.
It’s a one-stop shop for the LEGENDS Division. Athletes race aged 16-19 years old are able to compete in one race per year at a “super-sprint” race distance. LEGENDS athletes will start off our race day by entering the course ahead of the Senior division. Legends division athletes will also be eligible to compete in the RipRoar Relay race.

Course Information:
The Swim:
Our Omaha swim takes place in the incredibly picturesque Wahrspann Lake starting on a beach made just for the race. The swim takes place in open water under close supervision of life guards and kayaks. Seniors will complete two 100 meter laps, while intermediates will complete 1 lap. Juniors will do 1 amended lap. While the depth of the water varies, most juniors will be able to touch for much of the swim.
The Bike:
The two mile closed bike loop inside Chalco Hills Recreation Area is the most scenic of our season. Athletes bike through the heart of a wildlife refuge on a smooth wide road. Each lap holds one long and gradual hill- uphill on the way out, downhill on the way back. Seniors will complete 3 laps, Intermediates 2 laps and Juniors 1 lap. Keep your head up and look for deer, turkeys and foxes!
The Run:
The run course is held on both the Chalco Hills Recreation Area Trail as well as portions of Park Rd. The course is generally flat with a few gradual inclines and finishes under the shade of a grove near transition. This year's run course will travel north from transition and will be 1 lap for all athletes.
