2012 Tri For The Kids Olympic Triathlon:

Join us in Rome, Georgia for the 3rd Annual Tri For The Kids Olympic Distance Triathlon!

Swim, bike and run through downtown Rome and beyond.

Relay teams are welcome and encouraged.

The event is being held in conjunction with the 4th Annual Tri For The Kids Youth Triathlon with proceeds from both races benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Rome.

*All participants must purchase a one-day membership to USAT if not an annual member. If you are

an annual member, please indicate your membership number. You must bring your annual member-

ship card to Registration/Packet Pick Up.

T-Shirts: Pre-registered racers are guaranteed a dri-fit t-shirt.

Packet Pickup: Photo ID and USAT Card (if a USAT Member) are required for packet pickup.

Participants cannot be admitted to the race without these items, so please dont forget them.

Friday, May 4: 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the South Rome Boys & Girls Club (211 E. Main Street)

Race Day: onsite from 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. (111 Bridgepoint Plaza)

Chip Distribution: ChampionChips will be distributed to participants on race morning from 6-7:30

a.m. at the Chip Distribution table. No exceptions. Please present your race bib to receive your pre-assigned chip.

Awards:

- Overall M/F, 1st, 2nd, 3rd

- Masters M/F, 1st, 2nd, 3rd

- 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Age Group (M/F): 19 and Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49,

50-54, 55- 59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+

- Clydesdale & Athena 1st Place (200+ lbs., 150+ lbs.)

- Team Award 1st Place (Male, Female, Mixed)

Course Information:

Swim:

The race will include a 1.1 mile point-to-point time trial swim in the Etowah River (participants will be swimming with the current).

Racers will enter the water 1 at a time.

Racers will need to stay in the center of the river.

Wetsuits recommended.

Water temperature will be posted and updated closer to race day.

The current was extremely fast in 2010. Expect faster than normal swim times (5 - 10 minutes faster).

Bike:

The bike is on good city and county roads, flat to rolling with a couple of small, challenging hills.

Should allow for a fast ride.

Run:

The run will be primarily flat to gently rolling towards the end.

Directions:

Rome, Georgia is located approximately 1 hour 15 minutes northwest of Atlanta.

From Atlanta's perimeter (I-285), take I-75 North about 45 miles to Exit 290 (Rome/ Canton).

Turn left on Georgia route 20.

After three miles, you will come to a three-way traffic light.

Turn left and then take an immediate right up a ramp onto US 41 north.

Proceed three miles and then exit onto US 411 south and travel about 25 miles toward Rome.

Transition Area:

The transition area is located at 111 Bridgepoint Plaza - Rome, GA 30161 in the Wells Fargo parking lot.

Parking:

There are several parking options convenient to both the transition area and Town Green where the race will finish.

There is a gravel lot adjacent to the Transition Area.

Parking deck located beside the Town Green that costs $5 (From 2nd Ave. turn right onto W. 1st St. The deck is on the left).

Free parking is available on W. 3rd St. directly across from the Town Green.

Parking is also available on Broad Street; however there is a 2 hour limit.

Spectators may wish to park on Broad Street, but we strongly advise participants to park in the other areas.
