_ The 2022 Pilot Fireball Moonlight Classic 5K and Firecracker Kids Mile

The Pilot Fireball Moonlight Classic 5K is a summer tradition and the tradition will continue this year. Date, Time & Place: Sunday July 3rd, 2022, Little Firecracker Mile-8:00pm, 5K-9:00pm, Neyland Dr We are excited to be back on Neyland Drive in person this year for the Pilot Fireball Moonlight Classic 5k and Little Firecracker Mile to kick off the July 4th holiday!   Course Description: Runners will start in the east bound lane of Neyland Dr, just west of Joe Johnson Dr and run out before returning the in east bound lane, finishing just before Joe Johnson Dr. Little Firecracker Mile will be an out and back on Neyland Dr.  THERE WILL BE NO WATERSTOP ON COURSE!!  Please plan accordingly, this race has been known to be warm.  Course certification number is TN10099MS Registration and Entry Fee (No refunds or bib transfers): Early Bird Pricing 3/27-4/9-$25, 4/10-6/25-$30, late registration 6/26-7/3-$35. Cost for 17 and under is $25 until 6/25 and then goes up to $35 for late and day-of registration.  Little Firecracker fee is $10 through 6/25, then $15 6/26-7/3.  Only one coupon may be used at a time.  No discounts on day-of registration.  Packet Pickup: Early pickup TBD; Race day packet pickup will be in front of Brehm Animal Science Building off of Joe Johnson Dr on UT Ag campus from 6:30-8:45pm.  Shirts: Adults will receive a unisex Anvil brand t-shirt; kids will receive a Port and Company 50/50 blend t-shirt. Shirt order will be placed on June 24.  To ensure your correct shirt size, please register before June 23. Sizes can be exchanged after the race if supplies are available. When the inventory runs out in the RunSignUp system then there will be no more shirts. No re-orders.  Results: Results will be posted on Run Signup after the race.  Awards: Awards to the top 3 Overall, top Masters (As defined by fastest person age 40 and above, not limited to 40-49) Grandmasters (As defined by fastest person age 50 and above, not limited to 50-59), Senior Grandmasters (As defined by fastest person age 60 and above, not limited to 60-69) male and female. Awards to the top 3 in each age group as well as Overall Clydesdale (men over 200 lbs.) and Overall Athena (Women over 150 lbs.) Awards ceremony following race.  Awards will not be mailed. All kids finishing the Little Firecracker Mile will receive a finisher's medal.  Grand Prix Points and Team Competition: Fireball Classic is on the 2022 Team Competition schedule. 2022 Grand Prix Points awarded for overall, masters, grandmasters, senior grandmasters, clydesdale, athena, and age group categories. Grand Prix point are awarded to winners in these categories and points accumulate throughout the year. KTC recognizes the top 10 men and women in the Grand Prix series at the New Year’s Day 5K on January 1, 2023. Remember, to be eligible for Grand Prix Points, participants must be a member of KTC and must volunteer for at least 3 KTC races throughout the year. Post Race Refreshments: Assorted refreshments will be provided post race in the event tent.  Race Etiquette: Due to insurance regulations, roller blades, strollers, bicycles, and dogs are not allowed on the course. The 5K course closes in 1 hour and 15 minutes. KTC discourages the use of headphones at events. That is accomplished through a variety of events and programming. The Knoxville Track Club puts the safety of its participants, spectators, staff and volunteers first. Dangerous weather conditions pose a unique challenge to an event of any size, distance or location. Therefore, KTC has adopted the following Inclement Weather Policy:

Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event, with special attention placed on the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds, extreme temperatures and humidity. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these conditions on Knoxville Track Club’s website (www.ktc.org), as well as through other available means of communication such as e-mail, Twitter, Facebook and public address announcements. The Executive Director and Race Director in consultation, when available, with law enforcement, fire/EMS, other medical officers and other officials, will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include: Altering the start time, altering the course, or in extreme situations cancellation of the event. Visible lightning occurring within 30 minutes of the scheduled start will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 30 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 30-minute increments up to a maximum of 3 delays. Race personnel reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race or modify the course due to inclement weather. As stated on registration and race pages, there are no refunds or transfers. Participants must abandon the race if ordered to do so by the race personnel, medical staff, fire/paramedics or police personnel
