_ The 2022 Guts Gravel Glory (GGG ):

Race date:
Sunday, Aug7, 2022

Start:
9am

Where:
Pocahontas State Park (just south of Richmond, VA)    10301 State Park Road Chesterfield, VA 23832  (this address is to the main entrance of the park.  At this point you will turn into the Bright Hope Equestrian Park on the south side of Beach)  Standard parking fee will be collected by state park employees (unless you have a state park permit)

We will be racing again on the Bright Hope Equestrian side of Pocahontas.  There is plenty of room through transition for team tents and your personal support.  You will pass the transition every 10k.

Course:
This is a dirt road/paths ranging from 8-12 feet wide.  There will feel like there is a single line yet plenty of opportunity for passing. GPS of the course will be added soon.  Gravel or mountain bikes work best byt cross bikes have been ridden mostly historically! The loop is about 6 miles in distance. So, races are approx 50, 37 amd 19 miles.

Equipment:
A gravel or mountain bike would be best suited for this course.

Timing:
This event will be chipped timed! Chip will be placed on your race number.

Results:
Results will be posted online at this link: Results
During registration, you also can activate result notification.  You can receive results shortly after you finish via email/text. 50 mile
This is an 8 lap race.  Each lap has been GPSed to 6 miles.  So, the finish will be about 48-50 miles depending on your gps accuracy.  There also is a time cut of, like always.  In the past we have cut the course off once the 1st place rider finishes.  At that point all rider already on a lap will be able to finish that lap and it will be added to you total.  That time has been about 2:45 to 2:50 hours.  We decided to make a hard cutoff but give a few extra minutes to allow more racers to complete their laps.  The time cut off to go out for your last lap will be 3 hours.  We will cut the course off at that point.  So, if you have not finished your 8th lap by 3 hours you will be able to complete one more lap if you are on course before 3 hours. 36 mile This is a new option this year.  In the past this has been a B race, but with the 3 hour time limit to start your last lap we have seen that many 50 mile racer end up finishing 6 laps. So we decided to make that an option.  This race will still have a 3 hour limit to start your last lap.  This means, if you haven't completed your 6 laps but 3 hours you can head out for one more lap if you can do so before the clock hits 3 hours.  Otherwise you will be credited with the completed laps. 18 mile
This division will be a 3 lap race (approx. 18 miles). This is a 3 lap event which will total about 18 miles.  There is a time cut off of 3 hours.  If you have not already completed your three laps you are allowed to finish one more if you head out on course before the clock hits 3 hours.  Aid Station:
Located near the completion of each lap, we will have a water station set up.  This will be a place where water can be refilled and bottle hand-ups will be allowed (bring a friend or teammate to hand you your stuff).  We will not have volunteers there to give hand-ups, so you should bring support if you will need assistance with water refills. Course map/profile:  2022 Map coming soon.  We will be racing the origional loop with the creek crossing.
