_ The 2022 Jessica Meredith Jacobsen Memorial 5k and Fun Walk:

In memory of Jessica Meredith Jacobsen, the Knights of Columbus Council # 4011 (Father O’Neill Council) has organized the 15th Annual Jessica Meredith Jacobsen Memorial 5K Run and Fun Walk on September 17, 2022 at 8:00 AM. In addition to memorializing Jessica Meredith Jacobsen, who died tragically in 2007 as a result of intimate partner violence, the event also supports House of Ruth Maryland, the Immaculate Conception School Tuition Assistance Fund and Fr. O’Neill Charities.  The race and walk will begin at Immaculate Conception School in Towson, MD, at 8:00 AM with the race and walk following a similar course as prior years. We will also include a virtual race option for all participants who prefer the flexibility of participating when and where it is convenient for him or her. We will monitor all county and state COVID guidelines to ensure the safety of our participants. Please review the COVID guidelines below before selecting your event. As these guidelines change, we will determine if any changes to the event are required. Registration price will increase on 9/5/22, so register early! Free Parking for the event will be available in garage on Ware Ave on race day.  Online Registration for the 5k and Fun Walk will close at 8:00 PM on 9/16/22. Race day registration on 9/17/22 will be available until 7:30 AM. After this time, we cannot guarantee your registration. If you would like to donate to the race, donations will be accepted after 9/18/21. T-Shirt: A t shirt with the Knight logo is guaranteed for those registered by September 4, 2022. T-shirt and bib pickup will be on September 15th and September 16th at the Knights of Columbus Hall on W. Seminary Ave between 3:00-7:00 PM.  Awards: Cash prizes of $100, $50, and $25 for the top 3 female and male overall finishers. Age group medals will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. COVID Guidelines:

  • We recommend that all participants, attendees, and volunteers wear masks during the event. Participants can remove their mask while actively participating.
  • Any unvaccinated participant, attendee, or volunteer should wear a mask when he or she cannot be socially distant.
  • If any participant, attendee, or volunteer is feeling unwell or showing signs of any symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, prior to the race, we recommend he or she does not attend the event. We will switch that participant to a virtual race.
  • If any participant, attendee, or volunteer has tested positive for COVID-19 or is awaiting test results for COVID-19, we recommend he or she does not attend the event. Any participant can be switched to the virtual event.
  • We recommend that all participants and maintain social distancing during the event.
  • We recommend that all participants, attendees, or volunteers refrain from physical contact, such as handshakes, hugging or kissing, from those outside their family.
  • If any participant wants to switch from the in-person event to the virtual event, he or she will be allowed to do so.
Despite measures to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19, total elimination of risk of exposure and infection to COVID-19 is not currently possible.
