The Sprint event will be approximately half of each leg distance.  Minimum age to participate in the Sprint distance event is 14 (per USAT rules).

The Sprint event will also host the USAT High School Championship!  To be eligible to sign up for this event, participants must be currently IN high school.  OR, either be entering High School (9th grade) in the fall of 2022, or have just graduated from high school in 2022.

Course basics:  The swim and T-1 will be in/at Little Campbell Lake.  The bike will involve one or two laps of roads; Raspberry out to Kincaid, Raspberry back out to Sand Lake Rd, right on Kincaid Rd, left on Jodhpur Rd, left on Dimond, left on Sand Lake Rd, left on Raspberry (once for Sprint, twice for Olympic) finishing bike leg and entering T-2 in the lower stadium parking lot.  The run with be out through the tunnel in the stadium for a down and back run on the Coastal trail for either 5 or 10K of running.  The finish will be in the stadium in front of the timing shack.

Little Campbell Lake is located near the west end of Raspberry Road, at the entrance to Kincaid Park. Turn right onto the dirt road just after the large rock sign at the park entrance and follow it to the end. Race day, there will be NO PARKING for any participants after swim and bike gear drop off.

Course Information:

Olympic Distance Course

(scroll down for Sprint Course)

Swim (1500m)

2-Laps in Little Campbell Lake – More details and map coming soon. Water temperature is expected to be in the mid 60’s and wetsuits are strongly recommended.

Bike (40k)

The bike will take place between Little Campbell Lake and Kincaid Park. CAUTION: The first section of road between T1 and Raspberry Road is dirt/gravel.   Olympic distance racers will complete 2 full laps of the course before finishing at the Kincaid Stadium. Do not turn into the stadium parking lot until you are finishing. Use caution when making the turn into the parking lot as you are coming off a fast downhill and it is a tight corner. Riders have crashed here before, don’t add yourself to the list.

Run (10k)

The run will exit T2 into the Kincaid stadium and head out through the tunnel on the south end. Runners will turn right and join up with the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail by the chalet and follow the trail down the hill and north along the coastline. At the 5k point, runners will turn around (unless they prefer to run backwards on the 2nd half) and make their way back along the same route to the finish in the stadium. Don’t mind that little .5 mile uphill at the end, it only hurts for a little while.

Sprint Distance Course

Swim (800m)

1-Lap in Little Campbell Lake – See Olympic swim course map above. Water temperature is expected to be in the mid 60’s and wetsuits are strongly recommended.

Bike (15 Miles)

See Olympic bike course map above. CAUTION: The first section of road between T1 and Raspberry Road is dirt/gravel.  For the sprint, racers will complete ONE full lap of the course before finishing at the Kincaid Stadium. Use caution when making the turn into the parking lot as you are coming off a fast downhill and it is a tight corner. Riders have crashed here before, don’t add yourself to the list.

Run (5k)

See the Olympic run course map above. The run will exit T2 into the Kincaid stadium and head out through the tunnel on the south end. Runners will turn right and join up with the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail by the chalet and follow the trail down the hill and north along the coastline. At the 2.5k point, runners will turn around (unless they prefer to run backwards on the 2nd half) and make their way back along the same route to the finish in the stadium. Don’t mind that little .5 mile uphill at the end, it only hurts for a little while.
