This is YOUR weekend to honor or remember your loved one as we've all been touched by cancer in some way. Let's come together and support one another while giving back to non-profit organizations who have helped us through difficult times.
The Crush Cancer 5k race was created by siblings, Rebekah Hodgson & Andrew Cox, and hosted by Jonesboro Grange #357, after their father was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Watching John, their father, go through chemo treatments really opened their hearts to what others face every day. A benefit for John was unable to be held due to the pandemic and John would give you his last dollar before wanting any fundraising to be done for him. So in his spirit of giving, the race is held to honor and remember everyone who has been touched by cancer. The race was created to do two things: 1) bring others together so they know they're not alone & 2) to give back to those who are walking the same path that our family has been on.
John has given back to the local area in numerous ways in his lifetime. Through Crush Cancer we use the same pressure as a lobster claw (100 lbs per square inch) to Crush all the negative that comes with cancer. All money raised is donated to area non-profits who help individuals and their families as they navigate a cancer diagnosis.
🦞We hope you'll join us on June 26th in Jonesboro Maine for the second annual Crush Cancer 5k and kids fun run! The race is held the last Sunday in June as to celebrate John's birthday. Everyone joined in a pre race celebration to sing "Happy Birthday" and have John blow out his birthday candles. It was such a gift from the community!
If you would like to donate an item to the lucky number raffle or be a t-shirt sponsor please email: [email protected]
All race participants will receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, and goodie bag! *You must be registered by June 1st to receive a t-shirt. No exceptions. You must register in advance. Registration will close on June 12. No day of registration.
This is a charity race and it's being sponsored by the Jonesboro Grange #357. All money raised (after race expenses) will be given to area charities and non-profits who help people with their cancer journey.
We will be following all Maine CDC Guidelines.
