_ The 2022 Brewhouse Triathlon:
The Brewhouse Triathlon is one of Minnesota¹s oldest and most popular triathlons, celebrating their 35th year! Located at the Minnesota Power Pavilion at Island Lake, the pristine swim is followed by a beautiful bike on newly paved roads, and the run combines asphalt and gravel roads with plenty of aid stations. Olympic and Sprint Distances, including a 250m exhibition swim wave.
We will be following USATriathlon and St. Louis County regulations to hold a safe race this summer. This may include changing our traditional wave starts, and more spacing in the transition area.
This is a USAT sanctioned event and every participant, individual or team member. will have to purchase insurance either as an annual ($45) or a one-day ($15) USAT policy. You can go to www.USATriathlon.org to purchase an annual license, or renew your license. You will be able to purchase the one-day insurance if needed during registration.
The Courses At A Glance:
Short Course:
Swim – 820 yards (just shy of half a mile)
Bike – 12.4 miles
Run – 3.1 miles
Long Course:
Swim – 1640 yards (close to a mile)
Bike 24.8 miles
Run – 6.2 miles
_The swim course is an out and back course, starting in front at the Minnesota Power Picnic Area Beach and proceeding East to the turn-around point. Swimmers keep swim buoys on right-hand side for entire swim. A neutral area, marked with buoys, where there are no swimmers, will separate swimmers on the outbound and return legs of the swim. Swim course is monitored by lifeguards in kayaks. Water temperatures are typically between 72 and 76 degrees. If this is the case on race morning wetsuits will be allowed as this falls within USA Triathlon guidelines. (Please refer to the USAT website for details of the rules).
_The Bike Course for the Brewhouse Triathlon is simply a great course. The out and back course is very fast on new tar. The course is extremely beautiful, passing endless miles of woods and water. The bike begins at the Minnesota Power Picnic Area, across from the Island Lake Inn. Although open to traffic, St. Louis County Highway #4 is lightly traveled and will be intensely marshaled by USAT officials. Ride time air temperatures generally range from the low 60′s early in the morning to daytime highs between 80 and 90 degrees.
_The 6.2 mile run course is an out and back run that starts and finishes at the Minnesota Power Picnic Area. The scenic run is on a mix of gravel and new tar and heads north along St. Louis County Road #4 along the shore of Island Lake. Three aid stations are located on the run course. The race-course is open to residents of the road. Please make sure you run on the right shoulder of the road. The short course does a loop down to the boat landing.
