_ The 2nd Annual K9 Memorial Park 5K:
We are organizing our second annual K9 5K in the town of Tiverton, Rhode Island! The purpose of this road race is to bring dog lovers and members of the community together in a safe environment that is both fun & competitive. The K9 5K is open to runners of all ages along with their four-legged partners. The Boat House restaurant of Tiverton will be the official sponsor of the event and will provide ample parking for all attendees. The race check-in & starting line will be co-located across from the restaurant parking area.
The race will begin at 9:00 AM and will be routed as follows:
1. Race start at 227 Schooner Dr. towards Poplar Dr.
2. Poplar Dr. onto Riverside Dr.
3. Riverside Dr. onto Main Rd. with a loop around at BankNewport at 1740 Main Rd.
Tiered race awards will be categorized into three levels that include gold, silver & bronze for first, second, and third place runners. Additionally, at the finish line, there will be a silent auction for ticketed participants. We look forward to seeing you & your pup at the starting line! Come join us for a one-of-a-kind event in a beautiful area with a race route that runs alongside the Mount Hope Bay!
All runners seeking to register for the race with their K9s will be required to provide up-to-date vaccination records. Any runner that does not provide these records at the time of registration will be denied entry into the event area. In addition, due to the nature of the event and expected volume of attendees; runners are responsible for ensuring their K9 is leashed and under their direct control & supervision throughout the entirety of the event. Any runners that do not adhere to race requirements will be ejected from the event without a refund. K9s that appear to be vicious or demonstrate any aggressive behaviors will also not be allowed into the event. K9s will not be allowed to be left unattended at any point during the event and must remain with their respective owner throughout.
Updated event information:
Last June was our first ever 5k, and we couldn't explain how incredible the experience was. We learned a lot from the event and received constructive feedback that has factored in several changes to the event as a whole.
Water stations will be doubled, the location and visibility of the race turnaround point will be enhanced; as well as other minor changes that will allow for a more efficient event.
