_ The 2022 Eagle River Triathlon - CANCELLED

With heavy hearts the Eagle River Tri has come to the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event. 
 
Our intentions are to only ‘pause’ the event for 2022 in hopes we will be back in full-fashion next year. The impact the pandemic has had on the event over the past two years has made the financial viability of presenting this year’s event very challenging. With less than two months to event day, the registration numbers are too low to push forward with the event and be able to provide the racer experience the Eagle River Tri is known for.

Despite the generous support of our sponsors, and the many racers who have already registered, the trends we are seeing in registrations are not strong enough to give us confidence we can meet the minimum numbers needed for this year.

Other Alaska Events

We are fortunate to have so many triathlons and running events coming up this summer right in our own backyard, many of which are not sold out yet. We encourage you to register for these great events:

• Gold Nugget Triathlon – May 15, 2022 (women’s only event, registration closes 4/15/22)

• Alaska Triathlon Club races

  • Hammerman Triathlon – July 9, 2022

  • Moose Nugget Triathlon – July 31, 2022

• The Why Not Tri – June 11, 2022 – this is a great triathlon in Wasilla. Although it is not USAT sanctioned, it’s a well-known, fun event. 

• Turnagain Training – multiple youth programs as well as adult triathlons and duathlons. Event dates vary.

• There are also many great running events put on by Eagle River Tri’s long-time sponsor, Skinny Raven Sports.

Eagle River Triathlon was started by Mark Ramp in 1993. Since that year, the event has only seen two years that the race was not held. With this being the third year, we hope this is just a pause as well. We will be working with others to continue this great event in future years. It has been a favorite by many over the years and it has certainly been one of ours.
