_ The 2022 Raptor Resolution Run:

Join Nature & Wildlife Discovery Center for our 10th Annual Raptor Resolution Run! The race will take place at the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center River Campus at 10:00 AM on Saturday January 8, 2022. There will be a 5-mile run and a 2 ½-mile walk. The course is relatively flat and winds through a scenic area near and sometimes next to the Arkansas River to the west of the River Campus. The run is limited to runners only, but the walk is safe for strollers and dogs!

The awards are the most unique for any race around. The 1st overall male and female race finishers will be treated to a raptor release in the Pueblo County area or a night's stay at the scenic Horseshoe Lodge. Think of the possibilities! The raptor release could be done at your child’s school, at a family gathering, at a church or club function, or a number of other options; there are certain restrictions related to location and safety of the raptors. Prizes will also be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winners in each race age division, ranging from NWDC memberships to a private guided hike to a free kayak trip. 1st and 2nd place prizes are only for runners; walkers are not eligible for competitive prizes but are eligible for one of the door prizes, including a live birds of prey presentation featuring one of our resident raptors (walkers/runners must be present during the drawing to win).

All participants have the option to write down their New Year’s Resolutions on a postcard, which will be mailed out in several months as a reminder to hang tough with their December promises.

This year’s shirts will be long-sleeved shirts with a very cool logo. They are optional for purchase ($20), but you will want one! Due to supply constraints, we have ordered a limited number of shirts. To guarantee you receive your shirt the day of the race, you must register by December 26th at 11:59 PM (while supplies last); participants registering after this date may purchase one of any remaining shirts the day of the race.

Free burritos will be served to participants (meat, vegetarian, and vegan options available). Non-participants may purchase lunch for $5.

Electronic registration ends on January 6th at 11:59 AM. Paper copy registrations can be made at the check-in table at the Riverfront Building on the day of the race; the fee for day-of registration is $30 per registrant. Race day registration / check-in is from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on January 8th. Packets, bibs, and shirts will be available for pickup on Friday, January 7th from 12:00-4:00 PM at the River Campus Gift Shop or on January 8th at the check-in station.
