_ The 2022 SAR Miles For Meals:

Every Mile = 1 Meal

While the past year and a half was difficult for all of us in many ways Southern Arizona Roadrunners (SAR) knows that our community is strong and resilient. We also know that many of you might be looking for ways to give back during these unprecedented times. With a new year that is filled with hope and promise coming our way, SAR is combining efforts with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona to provide needed assistance to families during these difficult times. Our community means everything to us and while there is a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, we know that resources might still be needed for many.

That's where we all come in!

Whether you are a seasoned runner or walker or you are looking to start moving more in 2021, SAR invites you to join us in the FREE Miles for Meals event. For every intentional mile (not just the total number of steps you take during the day) you walk or run between January 2, 2022 and January 31, 2022 SAR will donate $0.25 to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. Every $0.25 provides one (1) meal, so we ask that you lace up those walking and running shoes and join us in reaching our goal of donating up to $5,000!

Here is how it works:

  1. Register (it's free!) on RunSignup to participate.
  2. Once registered, start tracking your miles (you can use your favorite watch, app or other means to log your miles).
  3. Report/Update your miles on this RunSignup page or by sending them to [email protected] Make sure to report your miles by January 31, 2022.
  4. Join the virtual community by following and tagging @RunSar or @communityfoodbank on Instagram and @azroadrunners on Facebook or use the hashtag #SARMilesforMeals. We will highlight participants throughout the month to keep up momentum and inspire others to keep moving.

Any movement is good movement, so keep it going and remember that every mile you move means 4 meals to those who need them!

At the end of the month SAR will total all the miles and donate the funds to the Food Bank of Southern Arizona. This is the first year SAR is hosting this event, but we are excited to help bring much needed resources to our community and encourage healthy activity. Help us meet our goal of $5,000.
