THE HISTORY:  This is the 14th Annual St. Paddy's Race 5K.  The event was developed to help raise money so families could afford to send their children to  summer camp and programs.

RACE TIME: 9:00 am

RACE LOCATION:  Denton, MD

RACE ENTRY FEE:  $ 27.00 for 5K, $15.00 for 1m Fun Run, $5 for kiddie dash

TO BENEFIT:   Caroline County’s youth to participate in summer programs by offering scholarships.

RACE COURSE:  3.11 mile out & back 5k course through the streets of historic Denton, MD

RACE TIMING: Seashore Strider Event Production will chip time the event using the Chronotrack chip timing system.

RACE AMENITIES:  A certified 5K race course, a One Mile Fun Run so the whole family can get in on the fitness fun.

AWARDS: Overall male and female, Masters, plus top 3 in 5 year age groups 6-8  to 70 over.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  

THIS EVENT WILL BE CAPPED AT 250 PARTICIPANTS DUE TO COVID GUIDELINES - REGISTER EARLY! 

·         If you registered for the 2020 event, you are among 135+ participants already registered for the 2021 event.  

 PACKET PICKUP: Available at Race location on Friday March 19 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the General James F. Fretterd Community Center, 107 South Fourth Street in the ground floor lobby at the Caroline County Recreation and Parks Office Headquarters.  Race Day packet pick-up is from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. 

There is no On-Site Race Registration  

RACE COURSE:  Out and back fast and flat course through small town residential neighborhood. Live music, custom street art and shamrock scavenger hunt compliments of grant support for the Caroline County Council of Arts and Denton Downtown Business Association. Innovations will make this event memorable and set a new standard for this 5K Race Party.

Virtual Option:  Complete the race anywhere and anytime you wish on Race Day: from 12:01 through Midnight on March 20. Verify your time via email to Finish line Director Tim at [email protected]. Email must have an attached selfie of yourself and a close up of your time and distance clock. Indoor treadmills are certainly an option.

WATER STOP INFO:. There will be one water stop on the course and it will be located just past the 1 mile marker near Denton Elementary School as well as the start and finish area.  The water stops are a self-serve, no contact procedure due to Covid Guidelines. Participants will help themselves to bottled water

NEW COVID19 RACE-DAY EVENT SCHEDULE: 
Saturday, March 20      No Race-Day Registration...sorry this is a "hands-off" event...no laptops, no $$ exchange, no Race Day registration  
      8:00 a.m. - begin to arrive at Fretterd Community Center; parking available at St. Luke's UMC, Maryland District Court building and surrounding residential streets adjacent to Fourth Street. ... warm-up in the Denton streets on your own...remember to social distance & wear a mask AT ALL TIMES 

      8:40 a.m. - begin to position yourself in the parking lot adjacent Community Center building entrance.   Signs posted that indicate your pace from 6:00 - 12:00 per mile.          9:00 a.m. - Race Start ...we will conduct a rolling start with no more than 30 at a time with the start going off in the following manner: 

o    1st...Sub 6 minute pace participants & 70+ participants 

o    2nd...6 minute pace participants 

o    3rd...7 minute pace participants 

o    4th...8 minute pace participants 

o    5th...9 minute pace participants 

o    6th...10 minute pace participants 

o    7th...11 minute pace participants 

o    8th...12 minute pace participants 

o    9th...13+ minute pace participants                                                                                                                                                                            

*   MASKS ARE TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES EVEN WHEN YOU ARE RACING.  PLEASE DO NOT THROW YOUR MASK ON THE GROUND.   WHEN YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE, PLEASE REMEMBER TO SOCIAL DISTANCE AND WEAR YOUR MASK.   Thank you for following these Seashore Strider "social distance & mask wearing" guidelines so we can continue to gain approval for safe live events in the Delmarva region.    

   ** IF YOU FEEL AS IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE AN ISSUE WEARING YOUR MASK AT ALL TIMES DURING THIS EVENT, Please support the event Virtually and run your 5-K Course independently from the on-site event.

 SELF CHECK FOR SYMPTOMS 
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Runners with any of these symptoms may have COVID-19 and SHOULD NOT attend this event: 

·         Fever or chills 

·         Cough 

·         Shortness of breath or difficulty         breathing 

·         Fatigue 

·         Muscle or body aches 

·         Headache 

·         New loss of taste or smell 

·         Sore throat 

·         Congestion or runny nose 

·         Nausea or vomiting 

·         Diarrhea 

 AWARDS:  Custom awards will be presented to the Overall, Master, and the top three finishers in the following 15 age groups for each event: 

·         5k...6-8, 9-11, 12-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75- up.  

·         Virtual … there will be no overall or age group awards presented to the virtual runners during this event, however the results received will be posted in finish order. Virtual runners will not have their results included with the “live” results. 

AWARDS:   Due to Covid19 there will not be a live awards ceremony 

Awards can be picked up following the posting of the results normally 10 minutes following the final finisher.  Awards will be individually bagged and placed on the "award table" where you come up and pick-up your award.  Awards can also be picked up at CCRP Office headquarters.     

PARKING:  Plenty of parking surrounding the Fretterd Center at St. Lukes UMC, The District Court across the street and on streets adjoining the race course start. No street parking on Fourth Street
