_ The 2021 Portland Kids Duathlon:
About the Race
Portland’s first multisport race for children, The Portland Kids Duathlon, is presented by Benchmark Real Estate. The race gives young people ages 3-12 an opportunity to participate in the fast-growing world of multi-sport racing. The run, bike, run format of a duathlon is fun and approachable, a great race for non-swimmers and triathletes alike. All young duathletes will finish the race with a smile on their face, a medal around their neck, and a boost of self-confidence and pride. All profits from this race will be donated to the Foundation for Portland Public Schools. Both in-person and virtual race options available.
Course
Transition will be at the triangle in front of Payson Park with separate transition areas for each race. The run courses will be out and back on the Back Cove Trail. Due to construction on Baxter Boulevard in 2021, the bike courses are still being finalized, but will be on trails and/or roads closed to vehicle traffic.
Distances
3-5 years: .8 mile bike. Someone 16 or older must walk/run alongside. This race is not timed.
5-8 years: 1 mile bike and 1/3 mile run. Training wheels allowed in last wave.
8-12 years: 1 mile run, 3 mile bike, 1/2 mile run
Virtual: Above are the suggested (not required) race distances for the virtual race as well. All ages welcome.
