_ The 2021 Tidewater Striders Distance Series 6M & 10M Race:

EVENT OVERVIEW:  

6 Mile &   10 Mile       Saturday, January 9, 2021 8:30 AM At Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Trail Start  

10 Mile &  15 Mile      Saturday, January 30, 2021  8:30AM At Ft Monroe (Permit Pending)            

12 Mile &  20 Mile      Saturday, February 27, 2021 8:30 AM At Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Trail Start

Race Courses:

Jan. 9th  & February 27th  begin and finish at the entrance to the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Trail Start Chesapeake, VA 23323 and will be an out & back.  Start will be a chip start with longer distance starting at 8:30 and shorter distance at 9:00.  There will be waves of 35 every 2 minutes.   January 30, will be at Ft Monroe, Hampton (pending permit approval) VA 23651 and will be two or three 5-mile loops around the fort’s waterfronts.  Finish line closure is based for each race date on a 15 minute per mile.  Early starts for walkers may be arranged by the Striders Walking Committee at [email protected].

After Race Parties:

Post race parties will be determined by COVID restrictions in place at the date of each event.

Directions: 

Dismal Swamp Canal Trail:, Trail Start,  Old Route 17 and George Washington Hwy, Chesapeake, VA 23323 just off Rt 17. Ft Monroe is located in Hampton at 490 Fenwick Dr., Ft Monroe, VA 23651 & is an open (non-military) venue.                   

Awards:

Runners who register for all three of the distance event series, including Strider Plus Runners (6-10-12 Mile or 10-15-20 Mile) will receive a premium jacket when signing up for all 3 events in one (1) single 3 event transaction.   Golden Runners can purchase a jacket for $15.00.  Please take care to view all your event options when registering.

Inclement Weather:  The Race Director and the Tidewater Striders reserve the right to cancel or reschedule or adjust distances as needed in the interest of safety or access restrictions to the venue.  Refunds will be considered if canceled by Governor's Covid orders.

Registration closes at 8:00 AM the Friday before each event.  There is no race day registration.

RACE DETAILS:  Due to Covid19 restrictions there will be Temperature Checks and Covid19-waivers to be signed upon arrival!  We will assign time slots and running waves to control social distancing!  We will provide more details as we get closer to race day!

Packet Pick-up is race day only.  7:30 for longer distance and 8:15 for shorter distance.
